The Salute to Magic!
The Society of American Magicians brought the greatest magic acts to the general public at various theatres in New York City. Over the years, the shows were presented from the Carnegie Lyceum Theater (now Carnegie Hall), the Brooklyn Academy of Music to the Queens Theatre in Flushing Meadows. Every great name in magic has been on the show’s roster over the years, Houdini, Blackstone, Johnny Thomson and David Copperfield to name a few. In 1971, the official title of “Magician of the Year” was awarded to honor select members and that tradition continues to this day.
